Thanks to Vertex Fitness for helping me get in shape to climb Gray's Peak in Colorado, at 14,270'. Stretching and strength conditioning put my muscles in shape, along with the mental conditioning at Vertex - "You can do it, David" - that put me on top of Colorado. What a gorgeous view! Vertex Gang - out here at Beaver Creek/Vail, and once again, just like last summer's climb of Grey's Peak at 14,270', credit goes to you. No pain, no stress, no burning in my legs, no weak right knee. Instead, I keep up with the kids and grandkids for the first time in years, my right and left turns are equally good, I can ski (small) mogul fields, and later, I'll be hitting some pretty steep slopes. And - at nite, still no pain, stress, or soreness. Amazing! So, THANKS to Vertex Personal Fitness for helping get me in shape for my best ski season in a long time. I'll be back out here in February for more

Vertex Fitness - thanks again for a great skiing vacation. First Tracks at Vail on a day with 16" of fresh overnight powder is a treat not to be missed, but only with Vertex training was I able to plow through the deep powder. Even with Vertex, still a little powder burn. I took a pass on Vail's back bowls - I'll probably need more Vertex to be ready for that, but the conditions were amazing. I've never worked harder in snow, nor have I ever skied such great conditions. Thanks to Ken and Becky and Lisa, too, for not leaving me in the dust. And - thanks to the Vertex staff for getting me on the mountain in the first place.

For the past many years, I've been unable to hit a golf ball the way I used to - low 80's. Unable to swing the club fully, and unable to get loft, and unable to break 100. Now, after personal training at Vertex Fitness, my swing is back, I can hit a driver with loft, and I broke 100, with a 45 on the back nine. I think I'll be breaking 90 this summer, thanks to Vertex Fitness.

A few years ago, after running with pain and unable to complete a 5K race, and after x-rays, MRI's, a workup at Rothman Institute, chiropractor visits, physical therapy, cortisone shots in my lower back, etc., I was told by medical professionals I'd never run again. Now, after 8 months with personal training at Vertex Fitness, I can run. Just ran 5 miles last week, and I'm signed up for the Broad Street Run in May. Thanks again, Vertex Fitness.

Getting in shape usually falls somewhere between booking a venue and picking out the flowers. I had never been to a personal trainer before and I was a little intimidated, but with my wedding 3 months away, I knew it was time for a change in my normal work-out routine. On my first visit to Vertex Fitness, Dwayne and the team asked me what my dress looked like and what my expectations were- and we just took it from there. Right away, I really liked the non-pretentious, no frills atmosphere at Vertex. All the personal trainers listen, encourage, and really know how to work with you to get results. Working a full time job and planning a fast-approaching wedding left me with little free time, but they worked around my crazy schedule and packed a ton into weekly 30-minute workouts. Life is busy (work, children) and it is difficult to make time for exercise. Vertex's program is 1) Efficient – challenging and with results and 2) Flexible – team-based approach means that any trainer can guide your workout and clients are not assigned to a single trainer (and their respective schedule). The continuity and flexibility of Vertex has facilitated my commitment to fitness. Dwayne and his staff are professional, friendly and genuinely focused on each client's goals.About a year ago, I severely injured my right shoulder and required reconstructive surgery and months of physical therapy. The team at Vertex accommodated and supported my recovery. While unable to lift upper body for some time, I was still able to exercise legs and core. Vertex actually coordinated with my physical therapist to determine a safe and effective way to resume my workouts. Continuing my Vertex workouts while recovering helped me on many levels. When I could exercise with my shoulder again, Vertex developed a custom program that gently challenged and strengthened my shoulder. I am now back to my pre-injury strength level and am more motivated than ever. In the middle of August 2010, I started working out at Vertex Fitness. After a month and a half of working out once a week I have saw major changes in my body. The first thing I noticed was the change in how the arthritis in my left knee was feeling. Before starting at Vertex I would have to wrap my knee before any type of activity and take medication for the pain. I could freely without the support of the wrap and the pain has diminished and I no longer need to take medication to get through my day. Other changes in my body I noticed were exactly what I was looking for, increased strength and endurance, and weight loss. But I was surprised how little time I needed to dedicate to exercise. The workouts are not just infrequent, they are very time efficient, I spend less then an hour once a week at Vertex and I am seeing these major changes in my body.
The real test of the workouts came at the end of September, just after a month of workouts. I was in a car accident for the second time in less then a year. In both incidences I was rear ended with similar force. The first accident put me out of commission for almost 3 months. I had lower and upper back pain as well injured the nerves across my shoulders and had pain down my arm. I was in physical therapy three times a week for 3 months. After the second accident, I feared I would have to endure the same pain and regimen of therapy. But to my surprise, after the initial muscle soreness went away, I had no residual effects from the accident. I believe the fact I had been strengthening my whole body I was able to come out of the second accident unscathed. I was even able to go to Vertex Fitness the next day for my training session.

I work full-time and have two young kids. I had not worked out regularly for many years and was seeing and feeling the neglect. I decided that to make a change, I had to invest in it and schedule it to make sure it happened, and that's how I found Vertex. I had never lifted weights before and felt pretty intimidated when I first saw all of the equipment. But all of the trainers at Vertex are great, they are knowledgeable and encouraging and I love working out with different people because you learn something different from everyone.
I've been working out at Vertex 1-2 times/week July of 2009 and I have seen huge improvements. My lower back aches are a thing of the past, which I attribute to the strength developed in my core. Building core strength also improved my posture and revealed muscles on my back that were never visible before. And the little fat pockets above my knees are gone too. My knees were also a problem, aching whenever I wore heels and giving me a good excuse to stop running as well. By strengthening my legs and hips, I've seen real improvement in my knees and have been wearing heels again without knee pain. And I'm running again too. Thanks Vertex!

Prior to starting at Vertex Fitness I met Dwayne on multiple occasions at business functions. I was apprehensive about starting any type of exercise program due to several physical limitations: I had a torn meniscus in my right knee as well as low back, neck, and shoulder pain. I didn’t think I would benefit from personal training because of my physical limitations and pain. However, after training at Vertex, the results have been amazing! I have committed to training at Vertex Fitness, doing 2 or 3 sessions each week. My knee, back, and neck pain are gone completely! The level of professionalism provided by Dwayne and the Vertex staff is invaluable. The whole staff strives to meet at every level the personal capabilities of each client.
What I thought I never could have done I have achieved. My energy level has increased ten-fold. I am been better able to run my business because I have more energy and Vertex is always ready to accommodate to my schedule.

I met Dwayne about 20 years ago when he was a trainer at a club in Boyertown, PA, early in his career. We met again this past Winter, and invited me to come in to Vertex for a complimentary session. A few years ago I became certified as a trainer through the NSPA, but I recently was not achieving the results from my own sessions, I was looking for. Dwayne assisted me with four important insights (1) the power of the mind over the body, (2) achieving and demonstrating proper technique, (3) educating me on how muscles work, and (4) ensuring muscle specificity with each rep on each exercise. By applying these principles, I have climbed to a new level with no plateau in site. I am re-engaged in my strength training sessions, and the sky is the limit to what I can achieve. I have been training at Vertex Fitness 2 to 3 times a week since
February 2007. I continue training at Vertex, not just because of the expertise
of all of the trainers, but also the professional facility. The size is just
right, small enough to give me the individual feeling I need, but big enough to
house all the exceptional equipment needed for a complete workout. The facility
is well lit and comfortable which provides a relaxed but encouraging atmosphere
to meet my goals.
My goals of firming up and strengthening my whole body were
what took me to Vertex in the first place. The staff focused on what I was
looking to get from a workout from the first time I stepped into the place. In
a short time, I noticed an increased muscle tone and strength in my arms, legs,
abdominals, low back and torso. The lost inches in my waist, which was
something I was looking to achieve, also. There is always a concern and focus
for what I want to achieve and an ongoing training plan is implemented to
ensure that I reach my goals. At Vertex, they focus is on my fitness training
from the moment that I arrive until the moment I leave. I look forward to my
session each time I have one scheduled.
My right shoulder is separated as a result of an
injury, and surgery to have it repaired failed. Recent x-rays show that the
amount of separation of the clavicle to the shoulder has actually diminished
as a result of muscle strengthening over the separation. My doctor and I were
both amazed at this unexpected benefit!
As a result of my training at Vertex Fitness, I
believe I received a bonus of more physical stamina and self-confidence, which
is apparent in both my personal and professional lives. At age 58, I feel that
my overall health is improving instead of the inevitable decline that comes
with age.

I train to enhance my life because for me maintaining my strength, agility and sharpness is very important. I believe that when I have strength training in my life many other things fall into place. When my schedule clamed down and I was able to resume training, I decide to check out other facilities before making a commitment to any place. I checked out three or four other fitness centers and found that either their size was too big (at one well known fitness center the parking situation was horrendous! I didn’t need that aggravation…) or they were too small and seemed somewhat understaffed and not able to spend enough quality time with me. Vertex Fitness remained the best choice for me it allows me to work with a verity of trainers rather then just one. I could not have been happier with the results and would have called from the sloops to thank the staff at Vertex, if it was not for my aversion to cell phones while skiing. I have been running and playing sports for most of my. It wasn't until I started strength training on a regular basis that I actually could see a change in my body composition. Working at Vertex Fitness has been terrific. I never leave the work out thinking, "I could have done more". They are able to get the most out of this body and yet make the total experience enjoyable. I happened upon Vertex Fitness quite by accident and was curious as to what it was all about so I decided to try a session. I had never worked with a trainer or participated in any kind of strength training. I enjoyed the workouts from the start and have been consistently working out at Vertex since 2004. The results were noticeable right away, I feel stronger, look better and I have more energy. I am a tennis player and occasionally get injured while playing. I have been able to work around and through a few different injuries over the years, while still getting the most out of the sessions. The trainers at Vertex are excellent, knowledgeable about the body and helped me get back to playing tennis quicker then I would have ever expected. The attention to detail is unmatched, and they are attentive, friendly and very personable. It truly is a pleasure to work with everyone at Vertex. The efficient workouts are easy to fit into my busy schedule. I feel better when I workout, so I rarely miss my twice a week routine, I feel better at age 45 than I did at 35.

I have always had a case of gym intimidation but I found Vertex to be non threatening and I was encouraged by the supportive and understanding staff. However, a month or so into the program, and unrelated to the workouts, I learned I had to have a quadruple by-pass operation which was not exactly what I had planned. After several months of rehab and restricted lifting (nothing heavier than a gallon of milk) I was able to start back at Vertex. They understood my situation and worked me back with a gradual program to take me beyond “recovery”.
